BIRMINGHAM, England — Chantelle Cameron defeated Mikaela Mayer by unanimous decision in Birmingham, England, on Saturday night to become the unified WBA, WBC and WBO super-welterweight world champion.
The 35-year-old Englishwoman added Mayer’s WBA and WBC titles to the WBO belt she already held after winning their 10-round contest at bp pulse LIVE, with two judges scoring the fight 97-93 and the other 96-94 in Cameron’s favour.
Cameron’s victory completed a 4-1 win for the United Kingdom over the United States on the main card of MVPW-06. It was the sixth event in Most Valuable Promotions’ dedicated women’s boxing series, first launched in March by social media influencer Jake Paul and Canadian sports promoter Nakisa Bidarian. The pair could meet again, with both fighters having rematch clauses in their contracts.
“I’m going to say it’s my best win,” Cameron said. “I really enjoyed it — I think that probably was one of my best performances. I need to watch it back, but I did get a bit silly in there.”
On a rematch, she added: “I want to do this again. It’s up to Mikaela, but I want to do three-minute rounds.”
The bout marked the first time Cameron and Mayer, 36, had fought each other at either the amateur or professional level. Their amateur careers overlapped from 2009 to 2016, but the pair never met. Cameron had previously said she had wanted to fight Mayer during that period, but their “paths never crossed.”
Mayer had some early success with her jab, but Cameron increasingly took control as the fight progressed and landed the cleaner punches before hurting Mayer with a right hand in the eighth round.

The victory improves Cameron’s professional record to 23-1 and leaves her holding three of the four major titles at super-welterweight, with American Oshae Jones holding the IBF belt.
Cameron moved up to the division earlier this year and defeated Michaela Kotaskova by unanimous decision in April to claim the vacant WBO title and become a two-weight world champion.
She had previously been the undisputed super-lightweight champion and remains the only fighter to defeat Katie Taylor as a professional, winning their first meeting in Dublin in May 2023 before Taylor won the rematch six months later.
Mayer is a 2016 U.S. Olympian and three-weight world champion. She won the WBA and WBC titles against Mary Spencer in Montreal last October, but Saturday night’s defeat drops her professional record to 22-3.
Mayer’s three professional defeats have now all come in England, following split-decision losses to Alycia Baumgardner in London in 2022 and Natasha Jonas in Liverpool in 2024.
Tysie Gallagher, Terri Harper and Caroline Dubois beat Americans Brandi Robinson, Miranda Reyes and Amelia Moore, respectively, earlier in the night, while Reina Tellez defeated Jessica Barry for the United States’ only victory.
