Joy Behar made an eye-raising joke about Whoopi Goldberg during a recent episode of The View. This came as she acknowledged a special milestone in Goldberg’s hosting history with the show. Moreover, Behar and the panelists reflected on the show’s journey as they celebrated three decades on air.

The View’s six panelists, including Behar and Goldberg, celebrated three decades of the show as it entered its Season 30. Behar also brought up a personal milestone for Goldberg, who has been a part of the majority of the show’s seasons more than any other woman. For those unversed, she hosted 28 seasons out of 30.
Behar said, “All I can say is that I was here when the show was in black-and-white. I said to [show creator] Barbara [Walters], ‘We’re going to get old on this show.’ She said, ‘You’re going to get old anyway!’” She then reflected on her tenure, saying that she has been here longer than Jolly Green Giant. She then turned her attention again to Goldberg’s personal milestone. She said, “Ms. Whoopi over here, she’s celebrating a milestone. 20 years of that seat.” The EGOT winner instantly replied with “Wow,” before Behar made an unexpected joke.
Behar added, “She used to be white. I mean, things change here!” Sunny Hostin stepped in to appreciate both the panelists, Behar and Goldberg, for serving as a role model to them. She also expressed the honor of getting the opportunity to learn from the two about this business.
“It’s been lovely, because when I first came on, you said this is a game of volleyball. You get the ball, and you hit it; don’t keep it too long. Whoopi would always say, don’t look at the comments on social media, don’t do that to yourself. Don’t read the press, just be honest with yourself and who you are, and you’re our fearless leaders,” Hostin said.
