Chris Rock dropped a personal detail about the upcoming sequel Grown Ups 3 during a recent career retrospective. The comedian reflected on his time making the hit comedy franchise and revealed that a member of his family has now joined the cast.

Chris Rock sat down with Variety to test his memory on iconic lines from his filmography. While discussing his work with Adam Sandler and the rest of the cast, he shared that his daughter Zara is officially part of the new movie.
“Grown Ups—big hit movie, ginormous. Me, Adam Sandler—Adam Sandler’s a star, let’s be very clear here. David Spade, Rob Schneider, Kevin James,” Rock said. “It’s weird; my kids kind of grew up on those sets, and now my daughter Zara is actually going to be in the new one. Yeah, just great times.”
The Grown Ups 3 update adds a generational layer to the sequel that focuses on the main characters navigating life after their children have left the nest. Netflix previously announced that the story follows the group as they finally get freedom for an ultimate adventure.
The streamer has already confirmed that production has started on the third chapter. Adam Sandler leads the returning cast alongside Kevin James, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Maya Rudolph, Maria Bello, and Salma Hayek Pinault. The film also brings back Happy Madison regulars like Shaquille O’Neal, Colin Quinn, Tim Meadows, and Nick Swardson.
New additions include Julie Bowen, Deon Cole, and several younger performers, including Sadie Sandler and Sunny Sandler. The Sandler family maintains a strong part in the production, with Jackie Sandler serving as a producer alongside Adam Sandler, Jack Giarraputo, and Tim Herlihy. Sandler co-wrote the script with his frequent collaborator Tim Herlihy. Kyle Newacheck directs the project, which comes from Netflix in partnership with Sony Pictures.
