The Halo TV series will be leaving Netflix soon. The series has two seasons and was a hit for Paramount+ in terms of viewership, but has received a mixed reception from fans of the games.
Both seasons of Halo are leaving Netflix next month
According to a report by What’s On Netflix, the Halo TV series is leaving Netflix on October 1, 2026. Kyle Killen and Steven Kane created the first season and served as showrunners. However, David Wiener took over as showrunner for the second season of the series and also served as an executive producer. Paramount+ decided not to move forward with Season 3 in July 2024.
The main reason given for the show not being renewed was its high production costs, and viewership did not justify the level of money spent. It was also reported that creative differences played a role. Producers reportedly wanted to sell the show to other platforms, but the TV series was not able to continue.
At the time of the series’ cancellation, producers 343 Industries released a statement that read, “We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the Halo series to be a global success, and we remain committed to broadening the Halo universe in different ways in the future.”
On Rotten Tomatoes, Halo Season 1 got a 70 percent score on the Tomatometer, while its score on the Popcornmeter was 52 percent. Season 2 received a warmer response than its predecessor from both fans and critics. On the Tomatometer, it got a score of 90 percent based on critic reviews, and viewers gave it a 68 percent score on the Popcornmeter. Writing for Decider, critic Johnny Loftus noted that the series “feels more streamlined in its second season,” and that while “Halo doesn’t achieve the visual majesty of Apple TV+’s Foundation,” there “is vibe sharing occurring.”
