Lunar Colony
Deadline reports Roel Reine (Halo) is attached to direct Lunar Colony, a “sci-fi thriller” meets “space age Romeo & Juliet” from Centerboro Productions, Sintered Steel Productions, and Convoke Media. Based on a script by Cerise Fukuji,the story is “set in 2060” and “takes place nearly three decades after humanity established Terra 2.0, a permanent civilization on the Moon. As Earth becomes increasingly dependent on the colony’s resources, tensions between the two worlds threaten to ignite a new struggle for power and control. When Tiara and Josh, two young people raised on opposite sides of the Earth–Moon divide, fall in love, their relationship challenges political loyalties, family expectations and the forces determined to keep their worlds apart.”
They Follow
Filming has officially wrapped on They Follow, the-long awaited sequel to It Follows starring Maika Monroe, Naomi Ackie,Jackie Earle Haley, Justine Lupe, Anna Mirodin, Jayne Taini, Michael Gandolfini, Tom Pecinka, Melora Walters, Ben Krieger, Natalie Shinnick, and Jan Hoag.
The Pope’s Exorcist 2
During a recent interview with Screen Rant, Russell Crowe stated he believes he’s “only just scratched the surface” with his cinematic portrayal of Father Gabriele Amorth in The Pope’s Exorcist.
It definitely was conscious for the first 20 or 30 years because I grew up in an era where a sequel was always a really bad version of the first one, where the same thoughts and processes and love and focus and attention hadn’t been paid. They were just looking at it as a financial situation: ‘The brand is out there. There’s an audience for it. Make another one.’ So it was always negative, but that’s since changed dramatically, where some of the sequels have gone on to be iconic or legendary over and above the original film. So, yeah, I’m not as closed to it now as I was.
There are certain characters where I’ve been approached about a sequel, like Gabriele Amorth in The Pope’s Exorcist. They want to do another one of those, and that’s such a rich character who wrote 12 books about his experiences, and we’ve only just scratched the surface. So that would be interesting to do.
River
According to a new rumor from insider Jeff Sneider, Universal has scheduled the reportedly “brutal” slasher movie, River, for a January 15 theatrical release.
