No matter what your budget is, there’s a good gaming controller out there for you. And until just last week, I would have put Razer’s impeccable Wolverine V3 Pro 8K in the ‘you need a fierce budget to buy this one’ category, and yet Prime Day has just had to come in and prove me wrong.
Right now, you can pick up the Wolverine V3 Pro 8K for $94, which is more than half off its MSRP. That price is so good that I thought I clicked on the wrong controller the first time I saw it. The only downside is that you need to be a Prime Member to claim it. You could always sign up now and cancel before the first payment goes out.
We awarded the Wolverine V3 Pro 8K a 93% in our review late last year, and it’s such a good pad that it’s been our pick for the best high-end controller ever since.
Starting from the top, you are getting all the way up to 8,000 Hz polling here, so it’s a super snappy controller, and you get TMR thumbsticks and Hall effect triggers, which not only means no stick drift, but also better battery efficiency. It’s a pad that’s so good, the only thing holding you back at your local tournament will be you.
And it’s not just for competitive play either. It’s got tons of customizable functions and remappable buttons, and it’s super sturdy too. I don’t recommend dropping controllers, but I wager the Wolverine could take it if you do. I also quite like the aesthetic, which is fairly muted by Razer’s standards. The only lighting on the entire controller is in the centre, and it is there to indicate when the device is on or connected. You don’t have customizable RGB or anything down the side.
Arguably the biggest downside of the V3 Pro 8K is its monumental price point. At $200, it truly costs a king’s ransom, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone but the most serious a gamer. But at less than $100, it’s downright reasonably priced for such great specs. It even comes with an included carry case should you want to throw it in a backpack and take it with you.
