Bloodborne remains one of the most-popular games in FromSoftware’s repertoire, which says a lot because the studio isn’t short of bangers.

You may have heard recently that Bloodborne is now fully-supported on PC via unofficial means, but fans aren’t content to stop at a simple port.

The latest development is a new seamless co-op mod that lets you team-up with up to five friends; a squad of monster hunters that don’t just co-exist in Bloodborne’s world, but share it.

It’s called BBSC and the way it differs from Bloodborne’s official multiplayer mode is very similar to Elden Ring. Rather than summon your friends in for one fight and watching them dip they can stick around for more fun under the setting sun.

Regardless of whether you die, change locations or defeat a boss your friends will remain in your world until they disconnect, and the progress is shared amongst everyone playing.

This means if you kill the Cleric Beast with your buddies the Cleric Beast will be dead for all players; no repeating boss fights.

Now if this sounds like it’ll make the game too easy you needn’t worry. The mod scales up the enemy difficulty depending on how many players you currently have with you. This maintains a consistent challenge for everyone involved and ensures you’re not steamrolling the game to the point you’re no longer having fun.

How to play Bloodborne’s seamless co-op mode

There are a few ways to do this and they all start with the mod’s Github page. A test version has been released for the new native port, but it should also work with the emulated version available through shadPS4.

Another cool option is split-screen on your local PC. We do miss the good old days of split-screen co-op.

You will of course need a working ROM (not The Vacuous Spider) to play it on PC, which you can rip from your own legally-obtained disc copy of the game.

Seamless co-op is a must-have feature for the next Bloodborne game

While FromSoftware plans to launch Bloodborne’s spiritual successor, The Duskbloods, later this year, fans are still patiently waiting for a follow-up to the real deal.

Things are looking pretty bleak right now, but let’s be honest with ourselves; Bloodborne’s return is inevitable.

Whether it be Bloodborne Remastered, a Bloodborne remake or Bloodborne 2 we’ll undoubtedly see it return one day. When it does it could learn a thing or two from its PC exploits.

Take Bloodborne 2 for example. An open-world similar to The Duskbloods, but not as large as Elden Ring, would be great fun to run around with friends.

It wouldn’t work for a remaster or even a remake, but the potential is there for a brand-new release.

We’ve seen how much fun it can be to hunt monsters with your friends in the seamless co-op mode and we’d love to see FromSoftware do something similar for its next trip to Yharnam, whenever that may be.

For now keep enjoying Bloodborne on PC and pray to the eldritch entity of your choice that an actual PC port is still on the way.
