Unreal Engine 5

The fiercest rival of GTA VI has just dropped a 9/10 rated free demo on Steam. Unfortunately, no, it’s not The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, but it is something a lot more godly.
After years of agonising waiting, GTA VI finally arrives next month, bringing all-new mayhem to Rockstar Games’ modern-day Vice City.
However, this November, we’re not only being treated to GTA VI and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, but also the remaster of all remasters. We’re, of course, talking about Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered, and right now, you can play its free demo on Steam.
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered demo is available now, but there’s a catch
This playable demo is only available on PC via Steam, despite the game coming to PlayStation, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2. What’s more, it’s also is only available on Steam until 27 October 2026.
Never fear, though, because the full game is out very soon, on 3 November 2026, across all available platforms, so at least we won’t have to wait very long to enjoy the full breadth of Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered.
Originally released for Nintendo GameCube in October 2002 before arriving on Xbox the following year, Pipeworks Studio’s Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee quickly became a cult classic and is still viewed favourably all these years later. Hence why it’s getting a remaster after 24 years.
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee is a fighting game that lets you control iconic kaiju, including Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah, as they battle across destructible cities, causing all sorts of chaos as they go.
This release features enhanced visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5, with improved lighting, weather and destruction effects. Each kaiju has an additional campaign, and the game also features online multiplayer and much more.
It’s one of very few games actually willing to brave November and launch ahead of GTA VI, which has generated plenty of memes and jokes online, plus earned the general respect of the industry.
“The ultimate Godzilla arena brawler is back, completely remastered. Choose your monster and battle it out with a range of brutal attacks through recreated cities and other locations. Face off against your friends and foes in local co-op or new online multiplayer,” reads the synopsis of the game.
