Sam Fender has responded to criticism by fans about ticket prices for his 2027 stadium tour by promising he would lower the cost, telling followers on Instagram: “They’re getting changed.”
The 32-year-old musician announced his Proper Massive stadium tour earlier this week.
Gavin Davis, an Instagram user, shared details of standing tickets for Fender’s show at Wembley, which were split into “front standing”, costing £130.75, and “standing”, priced at £98.85. Prices for seating ranged between £64.75 and £130.75.
Responding to the post, Fender said he was “not happy with these prices”.
He said: “It got inflated well more than I’d had in mind, it should only be inflated in relation to the cost of putting the show on.”
In his reply, Fender also criticised the division of standing tickets into front and back tiers as “bollocks”, saying this “won’t be happening” on his tour.
“I have no idea how this was normalised in gigs,” he added.
Tickets at other venues were also listed at more than £100, with the highest ticket price in Newcastle at £112.90, in Cardiff £119, and in Edinburgh at £120.95. The top ticket price in Manchester was £119.60.
Tickets for the tour are due to go on sale on Friday, with a presale on Wednesday morning.
Fender is not the first pop star to criticise ticket prices for his own show. The Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson has also called out steep ticket prices. In a TikTok post in August, she agreed with criticism from fans that ticket prices for her show in Bangkok were “very expensive” and wished to be “more involved” with setting prices.
“I hate the fact that people genuinely want to come, but they can’t because of the prices,” Larsson added.
Fender will perform at Newcastle’s St James’s Park, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Dublin’s Marley Park, Murrayfield in Edinburgh and the Etihad in Manchester across summer 2027.
Earlier this week, Fender also confirmed there would be a fourth album but he has yet to release the title or cover.
Fender, who was born in North Shields in Tyne and Wear, is best-known for his hit songs Hypersonic Missiles, Seventeen Going Under and People Watching. He is also the winner of five Brit awards and received the Mercury prize for his 2025 album People Watching.
Earlier this year, Fender rerecorded his single Rein Me In as a duet with the English singer-songwriter Olivia Dean, which won 2026 song of the year at the Brit awards. The song spent 23 overall weeks at No 1 in the singles chart, making it the longest-running No 1 single in British history.
