At least six police vehicles were deployed in Northumberland on Wednesday (November 4) after Newcastle United and Bosnia defender Amar Dedic was allegedly spotted carrying a bow and arrows.
Dedic was reported to police by a concerned member of the public after he and a friend were spotted carrying the weapon near a reservoir on Military Road in the Harlow Hill area.
A report from the Daily Mail claims police vehicles were dispatched to the area before the pair were eventually intercepted around seven miles away, in the Darras Hall Estate.
Then, in an unusual twist, Newcastle United goalkeeper Mark Gillespie is said to have arrived at the scene alongside former Magpies defender Paul Dummett as police were speaking to Dedic.
The pair were in the area ‘by chance’ and offered assistance, according to the report.

Officers are believed to have seized a bow and arrows after searching the car.
They also deemed that there was no threat to the public, with police stating that the equipment was being used for recreational purposes.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 1.55pm on Wednesday, we received a report of two men carrying a bow and arrows while walking along a track by the reservoir on Military Road in the Harlow Hill area.
“Officers attended and subsequently stopped a vehicle in the Darras Hall area and seized a bow and arrows. At this stage, it is understood they were for recreational use and there was no threat to the public. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Dedic and his friend reportedly fired arrows while in the countryside, although it remains unclear what they were aiming at.
Under UK law, hunting animals or birds with a bow and arrow or crossbow is illegal.
The 24-year-old defender, who joined Newcastle from Benfica in the summer, is expected to feature in the club’s Premier League clash against Fulham on Saturday afternoon.
He will reportedly avoid disciplinary action from Newcastle over the incident.
