If you’ve ever dreamed of experiencing the thrill of Japan’s drifting culture from the passenger seat, a popular ride-hailing app has come up with a unique way to make it happen, and it’s called Uber Drift.
The ride-hailing giant has launched Uber Drift in Tokyo, a limited-time experience designed to immerse visitors in one of Japan’s most famous auto subcultures.
Rather than simply taking passengers from A to B, this special trip is all about adrenaline and burning rubber.
It’s also the first time the famous app has brought one of its special ‘Go Anywhere’ experiences to the Asia-Pacific region.
Uber Drift gives passengers a front-row seat to Japan’s drifting culture
Available between June 3 and July 1, Uber Drift allows groups of up to four people to book a half-day drifting adventure in special cars directly through the app.
The experience begins with an Uber Black pickup in central Tokyo before guests are driven to Mobara Twin Circuit in Chiba Prefecture.
Once there, participants climb into the passenger seat alongside professional Formula Drift drivers for around 90 minutes of high-speed drifting action.
According to the company, the goal is to make Japan’s famous drifting scene more accessible to international visitors.

While drifting has become globally recognized through movies, video games, and motorsport, experiencing it firsthand has traditionally been difficult for tourists without local connections.
Guests are treated to rides in iconic Japanese drift cars, including legends such as the Nissan Silvia S15 and Nissan 180SX, both of which have become symbols of Japan’s tuning and motorsport culture.

How much Uber Drift costs in Japan
The Drift experience forms part of the company’s global Go Anywhere initiative, which has previously offered unusual adventures including a Safari in South Africa and a Balloon experience in Turkey.
The Tokyo experience marks the program’s first appearance in the Asia-Pacific region.

The package costs ¥30,000 (around $200) per group and is limited to just four bookings per day, making it one of the company’s most exclusive offerings to date.
The company says the experience is designed to showcase an authentic side of Japanese culture that many visitors would otherwise never get the chance to see.
For car enthusiasts, it could be the closest thing yet to living out a real-life Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift fantasy.
