When this Colorado man swapped out the Ford F-150 for the Tesla Cybertruck, the difference couldn’t have been more stark for him.
He even went so far as to say it was like going from the Victorian era into the future.
Many people have been making the switch from gas cars to EVs in recent years.
But we’re not sure we’ve heard anyone describe the transformation quite as colorfully as this.
The Ford F-150 and the Tesla Cybertruck almost feel like natural enemies at this point
On paper, these two trucks are distinct in their own rights.
But its their similarities that inevitably lead people to compare them – and make them compete.
With 2025 sales figures showing that the F-150 Lightning outsold the Cybertruck, there’s certainly cause for the two to be in competition.
But this goes way beyond mere figures.
It’s drag races and tugs of wars in which the competition really gets fierce.
But how about those who have been converted from one to the other? What do they have to say?
This Colorado Man didn’t mince his words
This man took to the Cybertruck Owners Clubwebsite to share his testimony.
“I’ve had a 2025 AWD truck for 3 weeks now,” the post began.
“I’ve regretted purchasing FSD, but only because this truck is so much fun to drive.”
Full Self Driving (FSD) has been purchased too.
“[But] the steer-by-wire combined with rear wheel steering is mind-blowing. Seriously feels like driving the future,” he continued.
“Technically, an F150 or Tundra does the same basic things, but nowhere near with this capability and ease of use.”
His wife likened it to a laptop, while the F-150 was more along the lines of a typewriter.
In his view, $85,000 was money well spent.
“Tesla would move a whole lot more of these if people could experience driving them. Don’t judge it til you drive it!” he concluded.
This is a sentiment that has been expressed before.
John Higham, Vice President of Communications at the Electric Vehicles Association (EVA), said that many end up switching to EVs based on driving experience.
“We hear this all the freaking time.We call it the butts in seats conversion,” he told Supercar Blondie.
“It’s why we hold Arrive and Drive events in all of our 100+ chapters across the US twice a year.”

November 2019: Cybertruck prototype is publicly unveiled.
Late 2021: Production meant to begin.
2022: Production target is postponed.
January 2023: Tesla confirmed production would begin later that year.
July 2023: First Cybertruck assembled at Gigafactory Texas.
November 2023: Serial production begins.
November 2023: First customer delivery event, as first Cybertucks are delivered.
