Jacob Elordi has lined up his next role following the Oscar nomination. The Euphoria actor is in talks to star alongside Scarlett Johansson in Ari Aster‘s upcoming mystery thriller.
According to Deadline, Elordi is set to join A24‘s new thriller, Scapegoat. The details of his role have not yet been revealed. As per the source, Aster met with several actors for the film’s high-profile role, but the director wanted Elordi.
However, the Australian actor recently took time off from acting after a busy run on many breakthrough projects. Some of his most notable roles include Nate Jacobs in Euphoria and the Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.
The 29-year-old received his first Academy Awards nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Frankenstein. His other acting credits include Wuthering Heights, Priscilla, Saltburn, and The Kissing Booth. He also has two upcoming projects. These include Outer Dark, which is currently in development, and Ridley Scott’s action thriller The Dog Stars, alongside Margaret Qualley and Josh Brolin.
Although negotiations are ongoing, if the deal closes, it would mark his first project since his break, with production expected to begin later this year.

What we know about Ari Aster’s mysterious Scapegoat
The plot of Scapegoat is heavily under wraps. Deadline reported that some speculation suggests that the thriller follows a doctor who operates on a famous internet personality, while another theory suggests it could be a sci-fi romance. However, these are only speculative theories about the story, as no official details have been revealed yet.
The movie is helmed by Aster, who also wrote the script. Along with his partner Lars Knudsen, he will also produce the thriller. The duo previously worked as producers on The Drama, starring Robert Pattinson and Zendaya.
Scapegoat will be distributed by A24, which has previously distributed the director’s critically acclaimed works. These include Hereditary, Midsommar, Beau Is Afraid, and Eddington.
The movie is still in pre-production and does not yet have an official release date.
