Netflix has released the first Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 trailer, teasing Mizu’s dangerous mission in London. The acclaimed animated series is set to return with its second season in January 2027, with Maya Erskine reprising her role as Mizu. The show is created and written by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, who also serve as executive producers, with Jane Wu as an executive producer.
Following the events of Season 1, Mizu’s bloody mission takes her to London, where she faces “new friends, old foes, and her own demons.” Back in Japan, Akemi and Taigen face a dangerous new shogun at Edo Castle, while Ringo begins searching for a new purpose.
What is happening in the Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 trailer?
The trailer gives fans their first extended look at Mizu’s journey to London. She travels with Abijah Fowler (Kenneth Branagh), whom she captured in the first season. Fowler knows the other two men Mizu is searching for, making him an important part of her plan.
As she confronts him, Fowler tells her, “You need me.” He then adds, “I know another word you don’t know… a magic word… London.” However, Mizu will have to decide how much she can trust the man who was once her enemy.
The trailer then showcases the dangers Mizu encounters on her voyage to London, including a violent storm at sea that puts her life at risk. Huge waves crash into her ship, making it lose its balance. She also loses some of the men who boarded the ship with her. Despite the chaos around her, she refuses to give up and remains determined to continue her mission, saying, “I choose revenge.”
As Mizu survives the storm and finally reaches London, the trailer ends on a cliffhanger as an unknown figure points a knife at her. Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 will premiere on Netflix in January 2027. Fans will have to wait to see the challenges Mizu faces in London.
