Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has been offered by his representatives to Chelsea and the Stamford Bridge club are considering the possibility of signing him.

Villa went on to sign Zion Suzuki from Parma to be their new No 1 going forward. Marco Bizot started Sunday’s Premier League opener at Brighton & Hove Albion.
Robert Sanchez started Chelsea’s first game of the new season at Fulham on Monday, but was at fault for both of the home side’s goals in a 3-2 win for Xabi Alonso’s visitors.
21-year-old goalkeeper Mike Penders has returned to the club this summer after spending last season on loan and impressing at Strasbourg. He was on the bench at Craven Cottage.
This summer is the second in succession to see Martinez push for an exit. Last year, Manchester United were in discussions with him and made a loan bid in the latter stages of the summer transfer window which was rejected. United ultimately signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.
The Argentina international played a leading role in Villa’s success once again last season, helping towards a fourth-placed Premier League finish and Europa League success. As a result, Unai Emery’s side return to the Champions League for the coming season.
Martinez also played a crucial role in Argentina’s run to the World Cup final, where they were beaten 1-0 by Spain, starting in all eight matches of the summer tournament.
He has made 256 appearances for Villa since joining from Arsenal in September 2020, and his departure would add to a significant squad churn this summer, with Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, Ezri Konsa and Lucas Digne having all departed.
