Stephen Curry’s historic march to 4,000 career three-pointers is getting the big-screen treatment.
“Portrait of an Artist: Stephen Curry” is set to debut exclusively in IMAX theaters in October, offering a documentary look at the Golden State Warriors superstar’s journey to becoming the first player in NBA history to reach 4,000 made three-pointers.
The film is expected to focus not simply on the milestone itself, but on the process behind it, the repetition, creativity, discipline and competitive mindset that have made Curry the most influential shooter of his generation.

Curry reached the 4,000-three mark in March 2025, extending an all-time record that had already belonged to him since he passed Ray Allen in December 2021. By that point, the significance of Curry’s shooting had gone well beyond a leaderboard. His range, movement and willingness to take shots that once would have been considered reckless fundamentally changed how NBA offenses are built and how defenses are forced to operate.
That evolution is part of what makes the documentary’s framing notable.
Rather than presenting Curry only as a statistical phenomenon, “Portrait of an Artist” appears designed to examine shooting as a craft. The title itself suggests an emphasis on the precision and imagination behind Curry’s game; how footwork, conditioning, balance, repetition and decision-making combine to produce shots that often look spontaneous.
The IMAX release also gives the project a different scale from the typical sports documentary. Curry’s game has always been unusually visual, built around constant movement, deep shooting range and the ability to create chaos without dominating the ball. Presenting that style on an oversized theatrical screen could offer a closer look at the details that television broadcasts often miss.
