This Florida man spotted a McLaren F1 and Senna parked up casually on the street – and it turns out that the F1 is linked to the Brunei Royal Family.
You can expect to see a lot of high-end cars at Miami Beach.
But to see a car linked to royalty? That’s something special.
It turns out that this particular McLaren F1 has quite a long history with the Brunei Royal Family.
The Brunei Royal Family are famously car lovers
Royalty are often known for appreciating a nice set of wheels, but the Brunei Royal Family take it to a whole other level.
The Sultan owns a $5 billion collection which is the stuff of legend, and a few of his cars have popped up over the years.
There was the custom Ferrari F90 that was kept a secret from the public and Ferrari for decades.
And how about the Lotus Carlton that had gone missing for 35 years before it sold at auction?
There’s no telling just how many of the family’s awe-inspiring cars have passed you by without you even realizing.
That was the case for one Floridian, who snapped photos of two McLarens parked up at Miami Beach.
In of itself, that’s cool enough, right?
But it turns out that one of this cars has an extraordinary backstory.
How did this McLaren F1 end up on Miami Beach?
Redditor DesiccantPack shared some photos of the McLaren F1 and Senna parked at Miami Beach on a Tuesday morning.

It was evident that these cars were turning heads, as two other people were in shot taking pictures of the vehicles.
But in the comments beneath the post, other Reddit users were on hand to provide more context.
“It’s not an F1 LM – presently one of 8 F1 road cars modified with some form of the optional High Downforce Kit,” Peloton25 explained.
“This one is chassis 014 and was converted by the factory in 2007 with its present look. It was originally a standard road car painted Yellow and delivered new to a member of the Brunei Royal Family.”
This would be the same F1 that went up for auction last year, you may recall.

Over the years, the car has been just about everywhere from the UK to all corners of the US.
After being sold by the Brunei Royal Family sometime in the early 2000s, it moved around, before coming back to McLaren in 2007 for a complete rebuild.
It was around this time that it got its Ibis White livery and was fitted with the High-Downforce kit.
The standard active wing was replaced by a fixed rear spoiler.
By the time it went up for auction in December 2025, it sold for a staggering $25,300,000.
The owner wasn’t revealed, as is often the case with auctions.
But at any rate, the people out on Miami Beach got to feast their eyes on it for a brief period.
And if that’s not a public service, what is?
