Everton have made an offer for Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee and the striker is keen on a move to Merseyside.
United must now decide whether to allow the Dutchman to leave the club ahead of the 11pm BST (6pm ET) deadline.
Everton have also agreed a deal to sign United States forward Folarin Balogun from Monaco but that move appears to be in doubt. Their offer for Zirkzee is related to their pursuit of Balogun.
Zirkzee, meanwhile, has previously attracted loan interest from Serie A, including from Fiorentina — who have instead signed Beto from Everton, leaving David Moyes’ side with only Thierno Barry as a recognised No 9 in their squad.

Zirkzee, 25, has yet to feature for United under Michael Carrick this season.
Monaco sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity to protect relationships, stated a deal for Balogun consisting of an initial €45million (£38.58m; $52.3m) plus €5million (£4.3m; $5.8m) in potential add-ons had been agreed between the two clubs, while Everton sources said the deal was worth in the region of £40million ($54m; €46.7m).
Balogun was expected to leave Monaco this summer, with discussions having not taken place over an extension of his contract that expires in the summer of 2028.
Balogun had an impressive World Cup in the U.S., netting three goals in four games and finishing as the USA’s top scorer in their run to the round of 16.
After being sent off in his side’s last-32 win over Bosnia & Herzegovina, Balogun’s automatic one-game ban was suspended by FIFA, which followed a call from President Donald Trump to FIFA president Gianni Infantino, with the decision drawing widespread criticism. He subsequently featured in the round of 16 match against Belgium, which the U.S. lost 4-1.
United now seem light up front

It seems strange if United allow Zirkzee to leave on loan without a replacement centre-forward coming in. The Dutchman has wanted to get regular game time, so a move appeals to him, but removing an attacking option for Michael Carrick leaves his options light — even though Zirkzee is yet to feature this season.
Zirkzee has nine goals in 75 games for United, and was made available for transfer at the start of the window. United have been looking at recruits. Fiorentina made a strong loan proposal for Zirkzee but the 25-year-old turned them down, while Juventus, who were also interested, elected for Nick Woltemade.
Napoli were looking at an approach, but Zirkzee now looks set to either stay at United or make a dramatic late switch to Everton. It appears to depend on Balogun’s transfer going through or not.
