George Clooney has a very specific concern about AI. The actor does not want his image appearing in an advertisement decades after his death. The 65-year-old shared his concern while discussing AI’s growing influence on Hollywood at the 2026 Venice Film Festival.
When asked about AI’s personal impact on him during the press conference, The Ocean’s Eleven actor joked, “I would like to avoid being in a tampon commercial 20 years after I’m dead.” He further raised concerns about AI-generated content and deepfakes, saying, “It’s getting harder and harder for us to discern the truth.”
Clooney also warned that the technology could put entertainment jobs at risk, particularly in visual effects. The actor acknowledged that AI will become “a very big part of this industry,” but believes it could take up to “30 percent of the jobs.” He added, “There’s going to be a big number of jobs that are going to be taken away, and we’re kind of on our back foot on it. We’re not taking the lead on it.” His remarks come as Hollywood continues debating AI’s impact on artists and workers.

Clooney received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival on September 2, 2026. The prestigious honor celebrates his extensive career as an actor, director, and producer.
The award marks another milestone in the 65-year-old’s long relationship with the Venice Film Festival. He first appeared at the festival in 1998 with Out of Sight. He later returned with films including Good Night, and Good Luck, Michael Clayton, Gravity, Burn After Reading, and Jay Kelly.
Clooney’s career has earned him two Academy Awards, four Golden Globes, four SAG Awards, and a BAFTA. His directing work includes Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Good Night, and Good Luck, The Ides of March, and Suburbicon.
Laura Dern, Clooney’s Jay Kelly co-star and longtime friend, presented him with the lifetime achievement honor. The honor comes nearly three decades after his first appearance at the festival and recognizes his contribution to cinema.
