Will Fleury believes OKTAGON are operating with double standards regarding his recent defeat.
In June, Fleury successfully defended his heavyweight title after committing to OKTAGON by signing another deal with the promotion.
The win streak that he’d put together at that time had resulted in Fleury choosing to re-sign over exploring a potential UFC move.
This relationship now looks to have changed due to the discussions that have taken place since the Irishman suffered his first loss in the European promotion.

Will Fleury believes he’s not getting the same treatment as other top OKTAGON fighters after title fight loss
On August 1, Will Fleury was stopped by Makhmud Muradov in the second round after the former UFC fighter stepped in to be his replacement opponent on short notice.
The Irishman was respectful towards his opponent inside the cage and appeared to quickly focus on making a rematch happen so he can try to reclaim his light heavyweight title.
However, while Fleury believes the controversial stoppage justifies a second clash with Muradov, let alone his body of work in the promotion, it doesn’t look like this is on the cards at 205 pounds.
The current heavyweight champion has been outspoken on social media about hearing that he’ll only get his shot at revenge if he agrees to put his other belt on the line.
“It makes me very bitter,” Fleury told Bloody Elbow after feeling like his opponent has been given treatment that wouldn’t be afforded to him. “It’s very hard to see them as like a global promotion,” he later added.

Fleury says that while he would still be just as respectful as he was on the night if the immediate rematch was on the table, he now regrets the way he reacted to the defeat.
The 37-year-old has produced some of the biggest wins of his career by taking out several top names on the promotion’s roster.
Now he feels like he isn’t being treated the same way as those fighters would have had they been in this same scenario.
“If I had beaten Carlos [Vemola] like this or I’d beaten [Martin] Buday like this, do you think it wouldn’t be an immediate rematch? I would expect it to be and I would fully accept that rematch but I wouldn’t have an option. That’s the reality of it… Why when the Irish guy loses is it a different situation?”
Ultimately, Fleury wants his rematch at light heavyweight, believing that this is the biggest matchup the promotion could make for their upcoming OKTAGON 100 card.
While he just wants his opportunity to correct the mistakes he made, the heavyweight champion also admitted that he’ll remember the way that the aftermath of this loss has played out.
“That’s what you tried to do,” he said.
