MMA fighter vs Chimp pay-per-view site launched
On Saturday, Complex reported that a pay-per-view event had been set up for a bizarre MMA fight.
Cole Johnson – also known as Wavy MMA – is apparently set to face a chimpanzee on September 11
The location of the bizarre matchup has not been made public, but a countdown on a site promoting the event will expire at 8pm CT on Friday.
“I just made that original video as a joke,” Johnson insisted during an interview with Santa Cruz.
“Do I think I can beat a chimp in a fight? Yeah, I do, but I never thought I was going to do it. Then, all of a sudden, all of these people are in my DM’s like, ‘We’ll give you $500,000.’ So, I took this guy’s offer to go and fight this chimpanzee in a country that I can’t speak about. But he ended up being a bulls—ter, so I told everyone I’m not fighting this thing anymore because this guy f—ed me over.
“Then, I got an offer for even more money, an amount that I can’t even disclose. This is a male chimp that bit a couple of people, and these guys are like, ‘You might as well do this. We’ll give you some money. We are gonna blow this up.’ These people I’m working with now are a little bit less sketchy.
“They are not gonna cut the teeth or claws or anything like that. There is gonna be people with tranquilizers as well. I wanna go against this wild animal and test myself against it. I don’t wanna kill this wild animal, and I don’t wanna die.
“We are gonna fight until I see I am obviously winning. If it’s killing me, it’s going to get tranquilized.
“I’m not saying I’m going to come out of his thing unscathed… Definitely a serious injury can 100 percent happen. If it gets my arm, it’s not the end of the world because I’ve been training my whole life to slam people from any position. Really, it’s about protecting my balls and my neck specifically.”
