Practical Magic star Sandra Bullock is already looking beyond her own return to the Owens family. If another chapter happens, the Bullock sees a younger generation taking center stage, putting Maisie Williams in a particularly interesting position for what could become a handoff.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Bullock addressed the possibility of another sequel and said she would “like to pass the torch” to the young women playing Sally’s daughters, Joey King and Maisie Williams. That makes Williams, best known as Arya Stark on Game of Thrones, a natural candidate to carry the magic forward.
The franchise currently has two movies. The 1998 original follows witch sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, played by Bullock and Nicole Kidman, as they confront a family curse and a dangerous resurrection spell that brings back Gillian’s abusive boyfriend.
Despite earning only $94.4 million worldwide against a $75 million budget, it eventually found a devoted audience. IMDb rates it 6.4/10, while Rotten Tomatoes gives it 30% from critics and 73% from audiences. Fans embraced the sisterly chemistry, witchcraft themes, and its cozy cult-movie personality.
The Owens family is facing another supernatural headache, and this time the problem hits much closer to home. In Practical Magic 2, Sally’s daughter Kylie becomes entangled in the family curse, pushing the women to travel to England as they hunt for a way to break its hold. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return alongside Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing, while Maisie Williams and Kylie King join the cast.
King’s previous credits include The Kissing Booth, Bullet Train and The Princess. Williams, meanwhile, has appeared in The New Mutants, The Owners, Then Came You and Mary Shelley.
The early critical response suggests Practical Magic 2 may have an uphill battle when it reaches theaters Sept. 10. Rotten Tomatoes currently puts the sequel at 37% from critics. The reaction so far has been split: Bullock and Kidman remain a highlight, and the nostalgia has its fans, but the new story has taken plenty of heat for struggling to recapture the original’s magic.
