Lucy Dacus has returned to where it all began and announced a 10th anniversary reissue of her debut album, No Burden, while also sharing the previously unreleased fan favorite “No Thank You, I Love You, Goodbye.” Stream it below.
Written during the No Burden era, the song has occasionally surfaced in the singer-songwriter’s live sets without ever receiving an official release. She has performed it sporadically over the years, including as recently as July.
The newly recorded studio version pairs Dacus with fellow Richmond collaborators Adrian Olsen and guitarist Alan Good Parker. Sharp and wavy, it unfolds with the effortless intimacy that put her on the map. The restrained arrangement makes a strong case for less is more, yet it occupies all the space it is afforded.

Originally released through EggHunt Records in February 2016, No Burden boasted standout tracks like “I Don’t Wanna Be Funny Anymore,” “Strange Torpedo,” and “Troublemaker Doppelgänger.” She recorded the album in Nashville with Jacob Blizard and producer-engineer Collin Pastore, completing most of the sessions in a single day before Matador Records reissued it later that year.
A decade later, Dacus is now wrapping up the largest tour of her career in support of her fourth solo album, Forever Is a Feeling. Her summer included headlining dates at MASS MoCA and Asbury Park as well as festival appearances at Newport Folk Festival, Outside Lands, and Bumbershoot.
She also had her first symphonic performance with the Chicago Philharmonic, which she is all set to follow up with one final gig in California. On September 13th, she will join the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra in Los Angeles on a bill that also features Cat Powerperforming The Greatest in its entirety.
