Chris Hansen‘s latest jab at Primetime comes with a new movie. The controversial TV host has dropped the trailer for his upcoming documentary on the opening day of the Robert Pattinson-led crime thriller.
Hansen’s TruBlu streaming network has unveiled the first trailer for I’m Chris Hansen. The documentary follows the To Catch a Predator host. The trailer was released on Friday, September 26, the same day Lance Oppenheim’s Primetime made its theatrical debut.
Hansen has long criticized Primetime. The 67-year-old TV presenter has often voiced his disapproval of the movie. Needless to say, the strategic trailer release appears to add another barb aimed at Oppenheim’s work.
The tagline of I’m Chris Hansen reads, “Over three years in the making; learn who the REAL Chris Hansen is.” The preview offers a glimpse into the TV host’s personal account of his work and career through exclusive interviews and archival footage.

What has Chris Hansen said about Primetime?
Hansen recently shared his thoughts on Primetime. The TV presenter recorded a short video, sharing his reaction: “It was so bizarre and so in and out of reality, it’s hard for me to…” a disappointed Hansen said. “Obviously I’m not objective because the character is, you know, me, but it was so detached from reality or anything I’ve experienced then or now doing the investigations. I’m not sure what the point of it was.”
The TV presenter had already been critical of the movie since the trailer’s release. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter earlier this month, he said, “Based upon what I’ve seen in the trailer and my understanding of what has been written about the film, they wanted to create something much darker and way more dramatic.”
Hansen added, “I think it’s an insult to the thousands of men and women who work hard every day to protect children from predators. They turn something that is very positive, very challenging and not without risk into what is essentially a horror film.”
Meanwhile, the official release date for I’m Chris Hansen remains under wraps.
