Paramount announced Tuesday that it has successfully acquired Warner Bros. Discovery. David Ellison‘s celebratory post on X gave fans another chance to support the Snyderverse.
The Skydance CEO thanked everyone who helped get the company to this point. He added that “we’re just getting started.” Fans filled the comments section with hashtags like #RestoreTheSnyderVerse, asking Ellison to bring back Zack Snyder and continue the filmmaker’s DC plans.
@jkbaker1117 wrote, “Now you know what to do to fix DC!” Another fan, @HallOfSV, echoed similar sentiments, writing, “We will love to see the continuation of Snyderverse.”
@Signs2323 said they were “Heavily invested in Zack Snyder’s DC JL saga” and asked Ellison to “Bring him back and let him deliver the epic sequels to ZSJL.”
Some fans made business arguments.@imanish230 argued that “DCEU generated over $4.7 billion at the box office,” under Snyder and suggested rereleasing them in theaters to see the hype. @fallenkinggoldy listed recent DCU projects as flops and called the Snyderverse “The salvation.”
With James Gunn & Peter Safran Staying Put, the Snyderverse Return Remains Unlikely
Despite the new ownership and fan comments, there is no indication that David Ellison plans to restore the Snyderverse. The new Skydance leadership structure retains James Gunn and Peter Safran as co-heads of DC Studios.
That means a return for the Snyderverse is unlikely for now. Restoring it would undo the direction Gunn and Safran have set, along with the projects already in the works. Therefore, the duo will continue in their roles and oversee the DCU.
As for the franchise, it is steaming hot, with Lanterns getting a strong reception. The studio now focuses on releasing Clayface, its first horror movie, which arrives in theaters on October 23, 2026.
Next is James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow, the sequel to Superman. The movie hits theaters on July 9, 2027.
