JJ Gabriel’s representatives have reportedly opened fresh talks with a European powerhouse days after Manchester United offered the wantaway teenager a contract.
Gabriel has not trained with United since making clear his intention to leave in September.
The starlet sent the Old Trafford club a formal notice explaining that he wanted to become a free agent.
What is the latest update on JJ Gabriel?
On October 8, The Guardian reported that, despite the Red Devils offering the 16-year-old a scholarship, he was still almost certain to leave for as little as £350,000. If United had not offered him the deal, he would have been able to leave for free in January 2027.
If a Premier League club attempts to sign the player, they must negotiate a fee with United or go to a Professional Football Compensation Committee tribunal to decide on a suitable compensation fee.
United would likely receive a £3million fee at a tribunal and a 20 per cent sell-on clause on future transfers.
Gabriel’s representatives have held talks with Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, while Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring the situation.
On Saturday (October 10), Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg claimed Bayern had opened a fresh round of talks over signing the teenager; however, an official offer has yet to be tabled.
Plettenberg wrote on X: “Bayern have not received a commitment from the 16 y/o gem.
“There is a feeling that Gabriel is leaning towards a move to Spain, with Real Madrid and Barcelona currently the favourites.
“A move in January is planned, based on obtaining a European passport. A Cypriot passport is being pursued, but alternative solutions are in place should that not work out. Manchester United want to keep him.”
As reported by the MEN, Gabriel’s representatives have made four specific requests to United, including a request for assurances that he would be given the number 77 shirt and permission for him to have ‘Gabriel JR’ printed on it.
The forward has yet to make his competitive debut for United, although he did feature against Atlético Madrid during pre-season.

What has Michael Carrick said about JJ Gabriel?
The United boss has insisted that the club’s priority is Gabriel’s welfare since news emerged that the teenager wanted to leave.
Speaking at a press conference on October 9, the United boss addressed the matter once again.
When asked why Gabriel did not feature in the Carabao Cup defeat to Brighton, having been tipped to make his competitive debut, Carrick replied: “I think that was after the City game, which he hadn’t been around for them days really, so things can change.
“We always have plans for certain things and certain ideas for younger players, whether they’re involved in squads, whether they’re not involved in squads, but nothing was concrete at that stage anyway.”
