I want to take a moment to thank Mike Mazzulli and the athletic commission for taking drug testing seriously and holding fighters to a high standard.

Cris Cyborg holds no ill will toward Ketlen Vieira despite her testing positive for a banned substance.
The former UFC champion is regarded as one of the greatest women’s fighters in MMA history, and she is not done yet.
Cyborg is the only MMA fighter in history to become aquintuple champion after her title success in the PFL means she has now held world championships across five major MMA promotions.
Her last fight was under the PFL banner, where she fought out her contract with a title defense against Ketlen Vieira. Cyborg was not only competing against an overweight opponent, but also fighting someone who was not completely clean.

Cris Cyborg references her own failed drug test in response to ex-UFC contender Ketlen Vieira’s suspension
On Tuesday, it emerged that ex-UFC contender Vieira failed a drugs test following her five-round defeat to Cyborg at PFL Tampa in August.
The news was revealed to Sherdog by Mike Mazzulli, the director of the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation.
While not all the details were disclosed, it was announced that Vieira’s A and B samples tested positive for a banned steroidal substance, leading to a six-month suspension for the Brazilian fighter.
After UFC champ Kayla Harrison’s former opponent claimed the drug failure stems from treatment for a knee injury, Cyborg released a statement on social media that referenced her own past infraction.
“I want to take a moment to thank Mike Mazzulli and the athletic commission for taking drug testing seriously and holding fighters to a high standard,” Cyborg wrote on X.
“My career has not been perfect, and I have never tried to hide from my past. In 2011, I had a positive test for a banned substance, served my suspension, accepted responsibility for what was in my body, and made major changes to the way I managed my team and supplements. Since then, I have competed under some of the most rigorous testing programs in MMA, including testing overseen by Mike Mazzulli, and I have continued to pass those tests.
“That is why I believe strict, independent testing is important,” she continued. “It protects the fighters, the sport and the legacy we work our entire lives to build.
“I also want to give respect to Ketlen Vieira. She is a tough competitor, a fellow Brazilian and a former UFC title challenger. Missing weight by 7.2 pounds created an extremely unusual situation, and I know fighters can face difficult circumstances during a fight camp. I have no interest in attacking her personally.”

She went on to speak about how proud she is of the PFL Tampa fight itself before signing off with a show of respect for Vieira despite her indiscretion.
“I believe clean sport deserves strong enforcement. And Ketlen, I respect you. I know what it takes to step into that cage. I wish you nothing but success moving forward.”
Cyborg tested positive for stanozolol, an anabolic steroid, after her 16-second knockout win over Hiroki Yamanaka at Strikeforce: Melendez vs Masvidal in December 2011.
The result was overturned to a No Contest and the MMA legend was suspended for one year.
