With Antonio Conte heavily rumoured as a potential Michael Carrick replacement, we’ve considered what his Manchester United team could look like.
On Sunday afternoon, Manchester United travel to Elland Road to face rivals Leeds United in a match that feels like it is must-win match for manager Carrick if he is to keep his job.
If United do decide to part way with Carrick just two months into the season, it’s rumoured that Premier League veteran Conte could come in as his replacement and bring with him a whole host of changes to United’s lineup.

How will Manchester United line up under Antonio Conte?
After leaving Napoli at the end of the last season Conte is currently available and therefore has been strongly linked with a spectacular move to help turn around United’s season.
The Italian manager, who won the Premier League and FA Cup with Chelsea, even hinted in a recent interview that he was considering joining a club like United next.
Speaking to The Athletic, he said: “If you go to a club where the history speaks for itself — a history made up of trophies, league titles and victories — you can only honour that history in one way: by having the ambition to bring that club back — if it isn’t there today — to fight for those goals.”
Later, he added: ““There are many clubs that have somewhat lost sight of their history. I’d like to go to one of these clubs to dust off that history and make it shine once more.
“Clubs where there’s pressure, where, ultimately, you know full well that you’re not going there just to take part, but to compete.”
Given United’s current run of five matches without a win, sitting 13th in the Premier League having crashed out of the Carabao Cup in their first match, it sounds like Conte would revel at the chance to fix United.
But if he did, he’d likely want to make quite a few changes, and this is how we could see him lining up.
Since his arrival from Royal Antwerp for an initial €21m (£18.1m), Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens has been one of United’s most important players and therefore comfortably keeps his place in Conte’s squad.
The backline is where we would likely see the first changes, with Conte likely to move to his beloved 3-4-3 formation with three centre-backs if he were to take over at United.
Given his recent explosive interview following the 2-0 Champions League loss to Atletico Madrid, it feels unlikely that Lisandro Martinez will be at United in the near future and he’s therefore the first current player to miss out on being a part of Conte’s vision.
In his place, Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck has come into the squad, with the German international heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months.
Liverpool have long been the favourites to sign the highly-rated 26-year-old, but United would no doubt stand a good chance of securing his signature should they trigger his reported release clause of €50-60m (£43.5m–£52.2m), said to apply exclusively to top European clubs.
Alongside him could be both Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt, who could finally return from his long-term injury in the coming weeks.
The full-backs have long been identified as problem positions for Manchester United, and it would certainly be something that Conte would address if he came in.
Amad has done enough to keep a spot at right-back, but long-term target Lewis Hall could finally arrive at Old Trafford if Conte came in.
With just two midfielders playing in Conte’s system, we could see the biggest surprise yet as captain Bruno Fernandes misses out.
For months, Fernandes’ future has come into question and, at 32-years-old with a contract set to expire next summer, he may decide he’s not prepared to stick around for another transition period with a new manager.
Instead, United youngster Kobbie Mainoo gets back into the starting lineup with new signing Carlos Baleba, who impressed during his first start mid-week, also included.

The final new signing comes up front, with a new striker in to replace Benjamin Sesko.
Although many fans may dream of Harry Kane returning to the Premier League and joining Conte’s United, Victor Osimhen seems like a much more likely signing given United’s current position.
The Nigerian striker has long been linked with a move to England, with the likes of Chelsea and Spurs previously eager to sign him, but it’s never happened.
However, an exciting new project under Conte at Old Trafford and the chance to take the club back to its former glory could just be enough to finally get Osimhen in the Premier League.
Either side of him Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo complete Conte’s attack as they continue to produce some of United’s rare good performances.
Of course, it still remains to be seen if United will sack Carrick, with the decision being far from certain even if they lose to Leeds United on Sunday.
And should they make the decision to ditch Carrick, Conte is likely to be just one of several big names linked with the job at Old Trafford.
But, let’s be honest, if Conte does get the United job and he builds a team similar to this, it will be nothing short of pure box office.
