Matchbook has completed its acquisition of rival betting exchange Betdaq, saying the combined operation should deepen liquidity as peer-to-peer betting gathers momentum. For exchange bettors, that is the practical promise: more money available to match could mean tighter spreads and a better chance of getting a wager at the price you want. Betdaq’s service is scheduled to remain open through October 21, 2026, with withdrawals available until November 4.
The deal brings together two established exchange operators, and Matchbook says customers should be able to place larger bets at their preferred prices through a deeper shared pool. Liquidity is the amount of money available to be matched in a market; when it is thin, a wager may not be filled in full or at the displayed price. That distinction matters to anyone used to comparing odds, not just to operators watching the business side of the market.
One pool, with a transition in between
Matchbook CEO Ronan McDonagh presented the acquisition as a continuation of the exchange model: prices are shaped by bettors placing opposing wagers rather than set solely by a bookmaker. He said Betdaq customers are the company’s priority during the changeover and that the combined pool should offer better prices and deeper liquidity than either exchange could provide alone.
The near-term dates are more concrete than the longer-term product promise. Betdaq is due to accept trading until October 21, after which customers have until November 4 to access their accounts and make withdrawals, according to the reported transition timetable.
There is an important distinction for existing users: Gaming.net reports that the acquisition covers the Betdaq brand and associated domains, not an automatic transfer of customer accounts or the customer database. Its account of an FAQ from Betdaq’s operator says customers who want to use Matchbook will need to register separately and complete its verification checks. In other words, the brand may be joining Matchbook, but customers should not assume their logins are making the trip too.
The exchange pitch meets prediction markets
Matchbook says the deal comes amid renewed interest in peer-to-peer betting. Its coverage of the market points to US prediction-market platforms Kalshi and Polymarket as examples of the model reaching new audiences. The overlap with esports is worth watching: prediction markets also let participants trade on event outcomes, though the products and rules vary. Peer-to-peer prediction markets and esports betting sit close enough to make the regulatory and product distinctions relevant for fans following wagering in competitive gaming.
Matchbook has already made moves beyond its core exchange. It partnered with easyGroup in 2024 to launch the EasyBet brand, and later partnered with ADI PredictStreet around the 2026 World Cup’s official predictions activity. Those steps give the Betdaq deal a broader strategic backdrop, but the company’s stated customer benefit here is still the same: more liquidity, tighter spreads and bigger bets matched at desired prices.
Trading closes before withdrawals do
The immediate next step is Betdaq’s scheduled trading closure on October 21, followed by the end of the stated withdrawal window on November 4. Matchbook has described the aim as bringing the exchanges into one deeper liquidity pool; the available reporting does not establish whether Betdaq will return later as a separate customer-facing brand. Gaming.net reports that a relaunch may be possible, but that is not a confirmed plan.
