The Pokémon Company

Pokémon has revealed new Mew and Mewtwo figure designs for the TCG’s 30th Celebration expansion, with two special Trading Card Game collections arriving next month.
The Pokémon Company’s latest in honouring the franchise having its titular 30th anniversary, the Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Figure Collection launches on 6 November, giving fans separate Mew and Mewtwo boxes containing exclusive sculptures, promotional cards, and booster packs.
However, despite the release date not being far off, there are only a few ways to get yours at the standard retail price, and even stock from resellers is only available at a couple of sites.
Everything about Pokémon’s revealed new Mew and Mewtwo 30th anniversary figures
(The Pokémon Company)
These new designs for Mew and Mewtwo put very different spins on two of Pokémon’s original Kanto favourites, and they’re quite the unique aesthetic compared to other TCG figures we’ve gotten before.
Mew’s figure, for instance, sees the Mythical Pokémon floating above a patch of flowers, its long tail curling overhead — offering a good bit of cuteness and whimsy. Mewtwo, meanwhile, strikes an imposing pose against a cluster of dark, angular crystals, giving a brute, powerful look we’ve known the Mew clone for these past 30 years.
Both sculptures were produced by Japanese collectibles company Kaiyodo, but the sculptors themselves have very peculiar backgrounds.
The Mew figure was sculpted by Taro Murai, whose recent figure credits include Hatsune Miku (confirmed via Record Store Day) and Mechagodzilla (Toy People News). Mewtwo’s sculptor Daichi F Sugimoto, on the other hand, is a Tokyo-based 3D character artist who’s worked on a plethora of games and other mediums — like Pokémon Champions and Silent Hill F — and figures of characters such as Jaden Yuki from Yu-Gi-Oh GX (confirmed via Best Buy) and DC’s Peacemaker (Hobby Denki).

Each 30th Figure Collection box also contains five Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration booster packs, a foil promo card featuring its respective Pokémon and an oversized version of said card.
Staying on-theme for the anniversary, there are 30 different Pikachu cards to discover across the anniversary expansion, with one appearing in every booster pack.

How to get the 30th Celebration Figure Collections
At RRP/MSRP, the sticker price for the Pokémon TCG’s Mew & Mewtwo figure collections is £29.99 and $29.99 in the UK and US, respectively, but current online retailers selling for that price (like Best Buy) have not made stock available yet or have already sold out — the latter of which happens within minutes of going live.
If you’re set on only buying online, and you don’t have the time to scout retailer sites, the best bet is to wait for listings at Amazon UK and Amazon US to drop.
Although Pokémon TCG products do sell for higher prices on both sites via resale listings by third-party sellers, stock sold by Amazon itself will get put under ‘invite request’ listings: where you click to make a request to purchase, and the retailer hands out invites to buy at RRP/MSRP at random whenever there’s a restock — more or less being like a lottery.

On the other hand, if you want the 30th Celebration Figure Collections no matter the cost, there are only a few options right now, including:
Fair warning, though, whilst you’re absolutely entitled to spend up to nearly ten times RRP/MSRP, the reseller prices will almost certainly be dropping soon.
The current estimated market prices for both the Mewtwo and Mew Figure Collections are $156.73 and $167.52, but that’s only the case at the moment because there currently isn’t that much preorder stock available to order yet.
Once more sellers across all major retailers go up (Amazon, Target, more Walmart sellers, etc.), there’ll be more supply to meet the demand, bringing reseller prices down.

How to get the Mew and Mewtwo figure collections at retail price

(The Pokémon Company)
Be that as it may, even with market prices sure to go down, getting these new Pokémon Mew & Mewtwo figures, cards, and the boxed packs will still be tough — given demand for any new release in the TCG is always guaranteed to sell out fast; nevertheless, there are still a few ways you can buy these at MSRP.
Use deal tracker apps
With apps like TrackaLacker, you can quickly find out the second a major Pokémon TCG release has stock at a particular site — which is incredibly handy, since they’ll send you push notifications on your phone.
Deal tracker social accounts
Alternative to using dedicated apps, there are loads of dedicated stock/deal-tracking accounts on X (formerly Twitter), for which you can turn notifications on for whenever they post about a new stock drop.
For the Pokémon TCG, the best two we’ve found so far are “Pokémon Deals, Alerts & News!” for the US and “Pokémon Deals, Stock & News UK” for the United Kingdom.
Check in with local retailers
Although it can be easy to think scalpers raid physical stores the second they open, plenty of local spots might have more Pokémon TCG stock than you think.
The big reason that can be the case is that, for US and UK retailers like Costco or Tesco, for instance, their restock operations are entirely different from their online equivalents. Odds are, your local shop might have a box of packs right by the tills with plenty left because other collectors just assume there won’t be any stock.
Still, don’t drive yourself crazy going to every possible shop or supermarket in your local area hunting for boxes of the Mew & Mewtwo figures; but if you happen to be at your nearby Walmart for grocery shopping anyway, you might get there in time just after a Pokémon restock.
