Pressure is doing really well after its digital release
Pressure continues its strong run after arriving on digital platforms. The war drama directed by Anthony Maras currently ranks at number four on the iTunes top movies chart, according to PopVortex. Andrew Scott leads the cast as meteorologist James Stagg alongside Brendan Fraser as Dwight D. Eisenhower. The film carries a rental price of $19.99 and a purchase price of $24.99 on the platform.
The theatrical release initially took place on May 29, 2026, across 1,829 theaters in the United States. Pressure then earned $2.4 million on its opening day before debuting to $5.8 million over the weekend. The film has since accumulated $17 million at the worldwide box office. Meanwhile, Focus Features distributed the project in North America after securing rights back in November 2024.
Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes reports that 86% of 96 critics gave positive assessments. The site carries an average rating of 7.6 out of 10 for the film. Its consensus states: “Finding a fresh angle on one of the most dramatized days in military history, Pressure is a brainy war film that derives most of its thrills from Andrew Scott’s simmering performance.” Metacritic meanwhile assigned a weighted average score of 69 out of 100. CinemaScore audiences gave the film a straight “A” grade.
The story essentially follows the tense 72 hours leading up to the Normandy landings during World War II. Kerry Condon plays Eisenhower’s assistant Kay Summersby while Chris Messina notably portrays forecaster Irving P. Krick. Damian Lewis additionally rounds out the main cast as Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery. Working Title Films produced the project with StudioCanal providing financing.
As of now, Pressure sits behind Michael, Project Hail Mary and Mortal Kombat II on the digital chart. The film still awaits its United Kingdom theatrical release on September 11, 2026.
