Step Brothers, The Other Guys зэрэг алдартай инээдмийн кинонууд болон HBO-ийн Eastbound & Down, Vice зэрэг төслүүдийг хамтран бүтээсэн юм.

Adam McKay says he’s open to working with Will Ferrell again after years apart. The filmmaker reflected on their split and admitted the partnership ended on a difficult note. Even so, he believes there is no lasting resentment between them. His latest comments have renewed hope among fans who still want to see the comedy duo reunite on screen.
What Adam McKay said about working with Will Ferrell again
Nearly seven years after shutting down Gary Sanchez Productions, Adam McKay says another collaboration with Will Ferrell is still possible. Speaking to Business Insider, the Oscar-winning filmmaker said he has “totally” remained “open” to working with Ferrell again.
McKay described them as “tremendous creative partners” and explained that the tension between them came from closing their production company rather than problems during their years of making movies together.
McKay also looked back on why the partnership gradually came to an end. He explained that producing films had never been Ferrell’s main passion, while he enjoyed building and running the company.
According to McKay, managing a successful production banner eventually became more work than Ferrell wanted. “We had a great run,” he said, adding that he has “no hard feelings” and leaving the door open by saying, “We’ll see what happens.”
The duo launched Gary Sanchez Productions in 2006 and spent more than a decade building one of Hollywood’s strongest comedy partnerships before parting ways in 2019. During that run, they were behind fan-favorite movies like Step Brothers and The Other Guys, while also producing HBO’s Eastbound & Down and the Oscar-winning political satire Vice.
Their split later proved to be more complicated than they had first believed. In 2021, Ferrell told The Hollywood Reporter that he and McKay simply had different ambitions for the company, saying McKay wanted to expand while he preferred to keep things simpler.
McKay later admitted to Vanity Fair that he mishandled casting John C. Reilly as Jerry Buss in HBO’s Winning Time, a role originally intended for Ferrell. “I should have called him, and I didn’t,” McKay admitted, adding that the mistake effectively ended their friendship.
