Paramount Pictures’ 2013 blockbuster action movie starring Brad Pitt has found a new streaming home. As of today, the zombie horror film World War Z is officially available to stream on Prime Video.
What do we know about Brad Pitt’s World War Z movie?
World War Z was directed by Marc Foster, with Matthew Michael Carnahan, Drew Goddard, and Damon Lindelof writing the script. It was inspired by Max Brooks’ 2006 apocalyptic novel of the same name. In the film, Pitt played a former United Nations investigator who gets forced back into service after a mysterious virus suddenly spreads around the world.
“When former U.N. investigator Gerry Lane and his family get stuck in urban gridlock, he senses that it’s no ordinary traffic jam. His suspicions are confirmed when, suddenly, the city erupts into chaos. A lethal virus, spread through a single bite, is turning healthy people into something vicious, unthinking, and feral. As the pandemic threatens to consume humanity, Gerry leads a worldwide search to find the source of the infection and, with luck, a way to halt its spread,” reads the official synopsis.
The cast also included Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, Peter Capaldi, Ruth Negga, David Morse, and more. It has a 67% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while its Popcornmeter score is slightly higher at 72%. During its theatrical run, the movie grossed around $540 million at the box office.
Recently, Paramount Pictures finally confirmed that World War Z is officially getting a sequel, which has been in development hell for a long period of time. At the moment, it’s still unclear if Pitt would return to reprise his role.
