Ex-DriveTribe presenter Mike Fernie tried daily driving a $2.1 million Bugatti Veyron in the UK for just 12 hours, but that was already enough to draw some conclusions.
Interestingly, the massively powerful engine wasn’t the main issue, but everything else was.
The car’s low stance and visibility proved problematic, and then there was a long list of features that made it quite hard to live with as a daily driver.
But, according to Fernie, the main problem becomes evident when you climb on board.
What to look for in a perfect daily driver
Mate Rimac believes that all supercars and hypercars, even the most extreme ones, should be driven regularly.
But while we do commend the intention and the principle, some hypercars are objectively very tricky to live with.
You can daily drive a Ferrari California, for example, because it’s relatively easy to see out of, comfortable, spacious, and fundamentally reliable.
However, it is a little harder (even though people actually do it) to daily drive an ABS-less, traction control-less, ultra-low-to-the-ground Ferrari F40.
The Ferrari F40 doesn’t even have power steering, which means that each turn will be a workout.
Also, apart from anything else the noise of the unfiltered engine will deafen you (and your neighbors).
So with that in mind, where would the Bugatti Veyron stand?
This guy tried daily driving a Bugatti Veyron, but it didn’t go well
Ex-DriveTribe presenter Mike Fernie tried living with a Bugatti Veyron for 12 hours and it quickly turned into a bit of a nightmare.
There are several potential issues with the Bugatti Veyron if you want to use it as a daily driver.
First, like most supercars, it is very low to the ground and difficult to see out of.
The rear window is practically non-existent, and the ultra-curved windshield can also be a problem.

Also, unless you live in a country where all the roads are super smooth – which is definitely not the case in the UK – you’ll be constantly bottoming out, although Fernie did admit that this car was a lot better in this regard than he expected.
“Initially it’s definitely more jiggly than I thought. But actually it’s really quite supple. It means the car’s bouncing about a bit, but it’s not harsh – it’s absorbing all the bumps,” he said.
The engine, ironically, is the least of your problems, because it’s very good at slow speeds as well.
Having said that, Matthew Honeysett, the man who lent his company Veryon to Fernie, made a very good point.
“I think the thing about them is they’re actually very docile and easy to drive. [But] you’ve got to remember [that] there’s [over] 1,600 horsepower under your right foot and [an] 8-liter engine with four turbine chargers,” he said.

But, according to Fernie, the main problems were the interior and trunk.
The frunk – front truck – is so minute you can’t fit anything in there, and even if you resort to using the passenger seat, you’re still very limited in terms of you what you can do.
Unless your weekly diet is an apple and a bottle of water, even a simple trip to the shops in the UK will be an issue.
