An underrated Russell Crowe and Liam Hemsworth action film has been released on Hulu. This takes place two years after its theatrical release. The film arrives after it was removed from Netflix two months ago. While the thriller got modest reviews, its box office collections made it a financial failure.
Director William Eubank’s Land of Bad can now be streamed on Hulu. The gritty survival film follows a stranded rookie soldier in the southern Philippines who relies on a remote Air Force drone pilot to navigate a brutal 48-hour fight for survival.
What makes Land of Bad worth watching on Hulu
Land of Bad stars Liam Hemsworth as Air Force Sgt. JJ Kinney, with Russell Crowe playing veteran drone pilot Capt. Eddie Grimm, known by his call sign, “Reaper.” Besides Liam, the film also stars his brother Luke Hemsworth in a supporting role, joined by Ricky Whittle, Milo Ventimiglia, and more. While the film didn’t do that well with critics, its audience reception tells a different story. At the time of writing, the film has an impressive 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Eubank previously directed the horror film Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, and the Laurence Fishburne sci-fi film The Signal. Following Land of Bad, the filmmaker will reunite with Crowe on his next film, The Last Druid. Land of Bad was written by Eubank and David Frigerio. The latter followed it up with his recent sports action film, Beast, which reunited Hemsworth with Crowe.
Following Land of Bad, Hemsworth continued with action roles, picking up the baton from Henry Cavill to play Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher. The actor will return in the role later this year in the show’s fifth and final season.
Land of Bad is available on physical media, VOD, and on Hulu.
