The Sultan of Brunei’s car collection is truly vast, and it is worth over $5 billion, but it does include some surprisingly cheap cars too.
It is well documented that he has a ridiculously large collection of cars. These range from Ferraris to McLarens to Rolls-Royces.
Yet despite having so much luxury on show, there are some interesting cheap cars that he owns that you wouldn’t expect.
These show that, rather than just having an eye for the exotics, the Sultan of Brunei just really likes his cars.
The Sultan of Brunei’s car collection has some incredible machines
Much of the collection is incredibly secretive.
Only a few leaked images giving us a glimpse into what it holds.
Naturally, there were once 10 McLaren F1s in the Sultan’s collection.
Yes, you did read that right; there were once 10 cars in the fleet, with that number now down to six.
The Sultan also holds the Guinness World Record for the largest private Rolls-Royce collection.
There are more than 500 of the luxury cars in his personal fleet.
These range from the Phantom VI, the first of which was produced in 1968, right up to more modern machines.
In the collection are also a huge number of Ferraris, including the specially commissioned Ferrari F90 and the Ferrari FX.
What about the Sultan’s ‘cheap’ vehicles in the car collection?
It perhaps comes as a surprise that there are ‘cheap’ cars held within the collection.
Some of these cars are actually very cheap.
Others are simply more affordable to us than, for example, a Ferrari F40.
Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet – $25,995 (2019 MSRP)
The Sultan has a Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet in the collection. This has to be one of the most bizarre cars given the huge number of supercars, even if it may have had a few extra additions for the Sultan.
Jeep Grand Cherokee – $38,920
While not ‘cheap’ compared to some cars, the Grand Cherokee is something that the average consumer could afford to buy, although the Sultan’s might have a few modifications. That is a far cry from some of the other cars in the fleet.
Porsche Panamera – $113,000
The Panamera is Porsche’s executive and luxury car. It’s designed more for businessmen and executives compared to the Porsche 911.
Chevrolet Corvette C1 – $101,196 (average auction price)
Within the collection is a single Chevrolet Corvette, which, compared to the $20 million McLaren F1s it sits next to, really is cheap.
So even someone like the Sultan of Brunei has enough interest in more ‘mundane’ cars to help fill out the car collection.
