Carmen Electra is celebrating a major full-circle moment this year as she returns to Playboy three decades after her first appearance. Electra opened up about the experience in a new interview.
Carmen Electra’s Playboy return marks full-circle moment 30 years later
Carmen Electra has returned to Playboy for the magazine’s Summer 2026 issue. Electra first appeared in the magazine back in 1996. However, Playboy is not Electra’s only major return this year. She also returned to the Scary Movie franchise.
She discussed her return to Playboy during a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, saying, “It was really fun to shoot again. Basically they wanted to dress me as aPlayboyBunny because I was going to [the West Hollywood gay club The Abbey], and so they did.”
Electra continued, “They came over with all these differentPlayboybunny costumes. I decided to go with the leopard print, and that is the Roberto Cavalli costume. I already have one, and now I have another one. So I’m happy!”
She then joked about her growing collection of outfits, saying, “I’m kind of collecting bunny costumes at this point.” The costume required constant adjustments during the shoot until it fit perfectly. Electra said, “It was continuous until the costume fit really super tight.”
Electra wore several daring outfits during the issue. She said, “When you’re actually wearing the costume, you cannot breathe. They don’t want you to breathe.” She then recalled a funny comment from the new house Bunny, saying, “The new house bunny actually said, ‘Because you’re a celebrity, we’re gonna let you breathe just a little bit. If you were a playmate, you wouldn’t be breathing.’ I was like, ‘Okay, thank you!’”
She also reflected on her reuniting with the Wayans brothers for Scary Movie 2026. She said that just being back “with the Wayans again” was “amazing,” adding that “the Wayans are the best.”
Looking back at the original Scary Movie, Electra remembered its huge success. “When we shot the first one, we had no idea how well it would do.” She also praised the Wayans’ unique comedic style.
The latest Scary Movie saw Electra appear in the opening scene as a bartender.
