Apple Original Films has unveiled the official trailer for Tenzing, a movie about a historic Mount Everest ascent. The star-studded cast includes Tom Hiddleston, Willem Dafoe, and more.
Tenzing will premiere in select theaters on October 9, 2026. The movie previously had its world premiere at the 53rd Telluride Film Festival on September 4. It was later screened at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival on September 15.

What to know about Tenzing’s cast, story & Apple TV release
Tenzing is a biographical drama directed by Jennifer Peedom. The movie will make its global streaming debut on Apple TV on October 16.
Based on true events, the movie chronicles the Nepalese-Tibetan Sherpa Tenzing Norgay’s 1953 ascent of Mount Everest with New Zealander climber Sir Edmund Hillary. The pair became the first climbers in history to summit the world’s tallest mountain.
The movie follows Tenzing, who, encouraged by his wife, finds an ally in expedition secretary Jill Henderson. They then persuade Colonel John Hunt that Tenzing deserves to be on the British climbing team, rather than serving them.
The official logline of the movie adds, “What follows is an ascent defined as much by the tensions between backgrounds, classes and competing ambitions as by the perils of the mountain itself. But high above the world, empire, rank and aspiration fall away, leaving two outsiders bound by mutual respect and trust — and for Tenzing, the fulfillment of both a lifelong dream and a spiritual calling.”
The trailer features a glimpse into the inspiring tale, with vignettes capturing some of the most dramatic and nail-biting moments from the movie.
Tenzing stars Genden Phuntsok as the titular climber. Tom Hiddleston plays Sir Edmund Hillary, alongside Willem Dafoe as John Hunt and Caitríona Balfe as Jill Henderson.
Luke Davies wrote the screenplay, with story by Jennifer Peedom and Davies. They also serve as producers alongside Desray Armstrong, Liz Watts, Iain Canning, and Emile Sherman. Norbu Tenzing, Simon Gillis, and David Michôd executive produce.
