Tottenham Hotspur have started the Premier League season with no wins in their first five outings but have the opportunity to change that against Manchester United, who they face at Old Trafford today at 17:30 local time on matchday six.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side risked going into the international break with no goals to its name, but a couple of strikes late on against Aston Villa meant a 3-2 defeat did not look all too unconvincing.
Having said that, the Lilywhites are rock bottom and need to pick up a few wins to climb back up in the standings. Here is how they could line-up for the United clash as they look for their first league success of the 2026/27 season.
Goalkeeper – Antonin Kinsky has been the primary option in goal lately and is the favourite to play against United.
Defenders – Micky van de Ven suffered a wrist injury in the international break but is expected to be fit for the visit to Old Trafford, while Jan Paul van Hecke has also returned to training following a bruised foot. The duo are expected to start in central defence.
Pedro Porro, however, misses out with a hamstring problem and 20-year-old Archie Gray could replace him at right back, while Andy Robertson might continue to play on the left side of the back four.
No changes expected higher up the pitch
Midfielders – Rodrigo Bentancur and Sandro Tonali have been employed lately in the double pivot in Tottenham Hotspur’s midfield, and are both likely to continue partnering with one another. Meanwhile, Mateus Fernandes could play as the attacking midfielder with James Maddison still nearing optimal fitness.
Savio could play on the right wing ahead of Mohammad Kudus, and Omar Marmoush may also keep his place on the left flank.
Forward – Dominic Solanke is expected to start as the lone striker for Spurs once again.
Here is how the visiting side is expected to look on paper.
