One of the largest barn find collections ever discovered featured 230 very rare classic cars hidden away for decades in amazing condition.
When the incredible collection finally went up for auction, it sparked a bidding frenzy from collectors around the world.
The vehicles had been carefully stored by a single owner over the course of 40 years, preserving an astonishing range of sought-after classics.
By the time the sale was over, the collection had brought in more than $10.8 million.

This remarkable collection belonged to Dutch collector Ad Palmen, who spent four decades quietly acquiring an extraordinary lineup of classic cars.
Rather than displaying them in museums or private showrooms, Palmen kept the vehicles tucked away across two warehouses and a church, where many remained untouched for years.
Unlike many barn finds that emerge covered in rust and heavily deteriorated, these cars were largely protected from the elements.
The storage helped preserve much of the collection, leaving many vehicles in surprisingly good condition despite sitting unused for decades.
The lineup included more than 230 cars from iconic manufacturers including Ferrari, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, BMW, Aston Martin, and Chevrolet.
One of the most valuable cars in the collection was a 1955 Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider America, which would later become the highest-selling vehicle of the entire auction.
Palmen eventually decided to part with the collection after declining health made it impossible for him to continue caring for the cars.
The collection sold for an incredible amount
The collection was auctioned over three days in June 2023 by Gallery Aaldering and Classic Car Auctions.
Interest was so intense that the auction website reportedly crashed as thousands of bidders from across the globe tried to place their offers at the same time.
When the final hammer fell, the entire collection had sold for more than €10 million – approximately $10.8 million.
Several standout models attracted particularly strong bids.
The 1955 Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider America sold for €540,000, making it the most expensive car in the collection.
A 1953 Mercedes-Benz 300S Cabriolet W188 fetched €275,000, while a 1964 Lancia Flaminia Sport Zagato Series 2 sold for €195,000.
Elsewhere, a 1968 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 brought in €182,500 and a 1963 Maserati 3500 GTI Sebring sold for €119,000.
Not every vehicle commanded six figures, though.
The cheapest sale of the entire auction was a 1998 Opel Vectra B, which changed hands for just €225 – a tiny figure compared to the collection’s biggest stars.
Still, together the 230-plus vehicles became one of the most successful barn find sales ever, proving that a lifetime spent quietly collecting classic cars can eventually capture the attention of enthusiasts around the world.
