Scissor Mouth
Deadline reports Tara Reid (Josie and the Pussycats) and Johnny Pemberton (Fallout) are attached to star in Scissor Mouth, “a contemporary Southern Gothic horror inspired by an ancient Japanese folktale” from director Deborah Richards. Set in the early 1980s, the story follows “a teenage girl who escapes years of captivity at the hands of her beauty-obsessed mother, leaving a bloody trail of ‘makeovers’ across rural West Texas.”
Tap Twice
According to Deadline, Chelsea Tavares, Joel McKinnon Miller, Carson Fagerbakke, Augusta Liv, Gillian Nation, and Joe Massingill are attached to star in Tap Twice, a “supernatural horror film” from director Andrew Bachelor in which “a grieving couple retreats to an isolated estate where the walls record every word — and a presence learns to speak in their voices.”
Seasons
Deadline also has word Elizabeth McGovern is the latest to join the cast of Seasons, the upcoming film adaptation of My Wife and I Bought a Ranch.
X-Men
During a recent interview with The Direct, Lana Condor revealed she’s “talked” to Marvel but has ultimately had “no real conversations” about returning to the X-Men franchise as Jubilee.
I would love nothing more than to come back as Jubilation Lee. That’s all I’ve been hearing, but no real conversations… I’ve talked to the filmmakers and been like, ‘Hey, listen, I’m 10 years older now. I know more. Bring me back.’ So we’ll see.
The Troop
According to Deadline, Paramount Primal has acquired the film rights to The Troop, the 2014 horror novel by Nick Cutter. Chris Basler has been hired to write the screenplay, following “a troop of boys who, while on their annual scout camping trip, encounter an intruder who unleashes something far more terrifying than any campfire ghost story. As fear spreads, a brutal struggle for survival begins, turning the boys against the infected… and each other.”
A Nightmare on Elm Street
During a recent interview with Screen Rant (via Dread Central), Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma director Jane Schoenbrun revealed she’s been “trying to get a meeting” with either Warner Bros. or Paramount about directing one of their competing A Nightmare on Elm Street reboots.
I’m trying to get a meeting on this Nightmare on Elm Street thing. I would love to do that.
The Uprising
Fewer than 24 hours later, Paul Greengrass’ The Uprising has dropped “The Rise of Robin Hood” from its title. According to a press release from the film’s UK distributor released to Metro, The Uprising is a “historical epic about the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381, not Robin Hood. Marketing materials posted by other countries that may appear in the UK online and on social media referencing Robin Hood are not issued or approved by us.”
Pendulum
A married couple (Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Phoebe Dynevor) find themselves at the mercy of a new-age marriage counselor (Jacki Weaver) with unorthodox methods in the trailer for Pendulum, co-starring Norman Reedus.
Bloody Tennis
Elsewhere, an American tennis player in Europe learns her colleagues participate in arcane training rituals involving leeches and hematophagy in the trailer for Bloody Tennis, the latest entry in the “sports-horror” genre.
Scooby-Doo: Origins
Deadline reportsAndré “3000” Benjamin and Cathy Moriarty have joined the supporting cast of Scooby-Doo: Origins in currently undisclosed roles.
Lanterns
During his recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live (guest-hosted by Jelly Roll),Nathan Fillion introduced a brief clip of Guy Gardener visiting John Stewart in jail from an upcoming episode of Lanterns.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood
Finally, Starz has released a new trailer for the second season of Outlander: Blood of My Blood premiering this September 18.
