Rolando Dy proved that he is the champion for a reason when facing Scott McHugh.
In May, Dy stopped Paulie Malignaggi to successfully defend his BKB super welterweight title and produce his biggest win to date.
The former UFC fighter doesn’t regret only making the switch to bare-knuckle late in his career despite the success he has been able to achieve.
This run continued in his latest title defense at BKB 60, where he took on bare-knuckle veteran McHugh.

Rolando Dy drops Scott McHugh several times before producing third round stoppage
Rolando Dy’s next title defense was elevated into the BKB 60 main event due to Mick Terrill taking a short notice fight and not being able to make the turnaround in time.
The defending champion proved why he is in this position by stopping Scott McHugh in the third round after dropping him several times.
Dy was able to nullify his opponent in the opening round, using his explosiveness and strength to quickly close the distance and land shots from the clinch.
The Filipino fighter stepped things up in the second round by landing much more effective shots at distance that McHugh was having a hard time getting back to his feet from.
While the challenger made it to the third round, it wasn’t long before Dy dropped him again and the referee waved the bout off.

The defending champion previously went 1-3 inside the UFC Octagon and has already proven himself against a boxing specialist by beating Paulie Malignaggi.
McHugh presented a very different threat, as a true veteran of the sport who has previously held world titles in BKB on two occasions.
Had he been victorious on Saturday night, he would’ve made history as a six-time BKB titleholder, but his vast experience wasn’t enough to secure the win on this occasion.
