“Klara and the Sun” кино нь аравдугаар сарын 23-нд нээлтээ хийхээр товлогджээ.

Taika Waititi confirmed that his long-awaited Star Wars film was stalled, six years after Lucasfilm announced the project.
“I hate to break this to you but we’re going to actually put it on ice and we’re working on a different thing together,” Waititi told Inverse.
When asked for more information, Waititi checked with his publicist, who asked him to decline answering any questions.
“Well, there’s your answer. I don’t even know how to dress it up or make it even vague,” the New Zealand filmmaker said.
“It’s very iced. I’ve got about four other movies I’m trying to do,” he added. “Ice ages do come to an end. Who knows?”
Lucasfilm announced the film in May 2020, confirming that Waititi would direct and co-write a new theatrical Star Wars feature with Krysty Wilson-Cairns, best known for 1917 and Last Night in Soho.
The project then spent years in development without entering production. In April 2023, Lucasfilm’s then president Kathleen Kennedy acknowledged that Waititi was taking his time with the screenplay. “He is working away. He is just a little slow, but he’s working away. And he’s very busy,” she told The Wrap.
In 2025, Poor Things and The Favourite screenwriter Tony McNamara joined the project, reportedly taking over screenplay duties so Waititi could concentrate on directing.

In January this year, Kennedy offered a more encouraging update, telling Deadline that Waititi had “turned in a script that I think is hilarious and great”, adding that the film was still “somewhat alive”.
The same month, Waititi spoke to Variety about the film, saying he wanted to “go back and harness a little bit more of the fun from the original films”.
“The stakes are very high, and there’s serious things going on, but there’s also a lot of fun to be had in those films. That’s what I was trying to bring back,” he said. “I was trying to work in a world that was a little bit separate to that because they have got so many things going on within that space. For me to do something there, it would need to be a little different and a little bit more its own thing.”

Waititi has several other projects in the pipeline, including an adaptation of Percival Everett’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel James, which reimagines Mark Twain’s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from the perspective of Jim, the enslaved man who accompanies Huck on his journey.
He is also attached to direct a new film based on Judge Dredd, the comic-book character created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra.
Another project in the works is Netflix’s animated film Charlie vs the Chocolate Factory, with a new take on Roald Dahl’s fictional chocolate-maker.
Waititi is voicing Willy Wonka in the film, which stars Kit Connor as a new character, Charlie Paley.
Netflix announced in August that the film would receive a global theatrical release on 5 November 2027, before arriving on the streaming service on 22 December.
Waititi is currently promoting Klara and the Sun, his film adaptation of the 2021 novel by Nobel Prize-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro.
The science-fiction drama stars Jenna Ortega as Klara, a solar-powered artificial companion who hopes to find a home with Josie, a teenager played by Mia Tharia. Amy Adams plays Josie’s mother, with Steve Buscemi and Natasha Lyonne also among the cast.
The Independent’s Clarisse Loughrey awarded it two stars, writing that the film is “both a betrayal of Ishiguro’s quiet, meditative vision and a poor imitation of Waititi’s own, pre-Marvel work”.
Klara and the Sun premieres in theatres on 23 October.
