Nicolas Cage has confessed to having “a problem” with interrupting people, while offering an apology for gatecrashing Chris Rock’s interview on the Howard Stern Show back in 2022.
The 62-year-old actor made headlines after making an unannounced appearance on the radio programme while Stern and Rock were in mid-conversation.
Addressing a panel during New York Comic Con earlier this month, Nicolas told attendees: “I don’t interrupt people anymore. I had a problem with that in the past. I feel very bad about it. And I’ve actually apologised.”
Reflecting on the moment in question, Nicolas said: “Chris Rock was on the Howard Stern Show and I just crashed the show. I felt terrible. I didn’t know it was Chris. I just showed up. I didn’t want to give Howard time to think about questions to ask.”
Cage later ran into Rock in public, describing the stand-up as “the coolest human in all of Hollywood”, and noted that Chris accepted his apology with grace.
He said: “I love Chris and he was nice about it. But yeah, I probably shouldn’t have interrupted.”
During the radio studio interruption, Stern and Rock were halfway through their interview when Cage walked in, surprising both of them in the process.
He explained he could only stay briefly, leading Rock to joke that Cage was the more famous of the two.
After Cage disputed this, Rock retorted: “He’s got an Academy Award. I’ve got a Source Award.”
The Face/Off actor also reflected on his relationship with Sean Connery, specifically remembering the late star’s love for playing golf.

He told Stern and Rock: “I was all about fishing [at the time], and I like being on my boat. And Sean wanted to get me on the golf course.”
Cage shared that he enjoyed a “great relationship” with Connery, though he added: “I never went on the golf course because I just didn’t have time for that.”
