At its peak, the world of Game of Thrones was one of the biggest and most popular franchises on the planet. The original HBO series premiered in 2011 and captivated audience, and it is still regarded as one of the greatest television shows of all time. However, the show’s final two seasons are often cited as some of the biggest missteps in TV history as well.
Fans have long criticized the way Game of Thrones ended, with many believing it leaves the entire series on a sour note. Following the end of the show, the Game of Thrones franchise would continue with the spin-off series House of the Dragon.
This series is a prequel to the original show and follows the story of the Targaryens as they wage war amongst themselves for power. That now brings us to the present day, with House of the Dragon Season 3 on the horizon. With Game of Thrones’ popularity back on the rise, the new season of the show looks to ride that wave.
The third season of the show currently has a 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and by all accounts seems to be picking up where the first season ended. While fan happiness will always be fickle, it seems like the world of Game of Thrones is back to being the king of conversation on TV, and with even more spin-off shows in the works, might not be leaving anytime soon.
