After the premiere of House of the Dragon Season 3, fans are wondering who the green men are.
The curiosity among fans rises when a man with antlers makes a short appearance around the time Alys Rivers arrives with a mysterious goat at the dragonseeds’ camp in the show. Her new target is Addam, Ulf, and Hugh, stationed near Harrenhal on Rhaenyra’s orders. Away from the action, the dragonseeds grow restless until Alys knocks on their door to disrupt their peace. She comes with a large man with antlers, who appears briefly but has ties to Westeros.

Green men with antlers serve as the protectors of the Isle of Faces, an island located at the center of the Gods Eye lake.
Their pact was made 10,000 years ago after the First Men and Children of the Forest concluded the war by keeping harmony on the island. Both parties signed an agreement, which allowed them to rule over different parts of the island. For instance, First Men were handed control over the land of Westeros, whereas Children ruled over the forests. To showcase their agreed-upon deal to the Gods, they carved faces on the Isle of Faces. This agreement is also what inspired the island’s name ultimately.
It’s learnt that the green men, who wield strong magics, were handed the responsibility to look after the island. Their power enables them to ward off those who attempt to appear on the island. However, there have been different descriptions of their appearances in nursery tales. On one hand, it’s suggested that these men have horns and dark green skin. Another theory suggests that they ride great elk and have antlers. Moreover, maesters consider that theywear green clothes and horned headdresses.
It is to be noted that George R.R. Martin’sFire and Blood doesn’t include such moments from green men. They are mentioned in the novel only for a brief part. This happens when Addam of Hull visits them on the Isle of Faces to seek advice (via Mashable).
