After four months of waiting, this Virginia man received his $30,000 Alibaba Bugatti and was left in stitches at what he saw.
YouTuber Carter Sharer had taken a risk with this purchase, which was purportedly a Bugatti Veyron body.
Getting anything Bugatti related for $30,000 is an absolute steal, so we can’t blame him for taking a gamble.
It’d take a while for the crate to arrive at his house, but it’d be worth the wait – although maybe not quite in the way you’re expecting.
Things looked promising at first
Carte Sharer uploaded a video of the unboxing process to his YouTube channel in August 2025.
Things looked good from the outset – the crate certainly looked big enough to carry a supercar.
To say that he was thanking his lucky stars would be a gross understatement.
After all, Bugattis often command eye-watering prices, with one-off models costingover $20 million.
Even damaged exampleshave sold for more than a million dollars.
And here he was with one that had only cost him $30,000.
Getting inside the crate was no easy feat, with massive layers of protective wrapping between Sharer and his Bugatti.
After a long laborious task of removing dozens of nails, the Bugatti lay before him in all its glory.

This, unfortunately, is where things start to unravel.
Upon closer inspection, Sharer realized that not all was as it seemed with this Bugatti.
For one thing, the iconic horseshoe Bugatti front grille was nowhere to be found.
In its place was a generic looking sticker.
“I’m starting to get really worried. My cheap Bugatti is starting to look a little too cheap,” Sharer said.
And it only got worse from there.
There were no doors to speak of, and the tires were plastic props.
Then came the biggest reveal of all.
Turns out that this $30,000 Alibaba Bugatti wasn’t such a good deal after all
Lifting up the car confirmed it once and for all – this Bugatti was made almost entirely out of foam.
“The whole thing is hollow,” Sharer said.
“So, it turns out you can’t trust everything you see on the internet.”
While many people would be understandably peeved by this revelation, Sharer took it in commendable good grace.
“As a YouTuber, I’m going to be optimistic and try to figure out something awesome to do with this,” he said.
