Stranger Things might be over, but two of its stars are reuniting for an upcoming spy drama — and one of them already has promising things to say about it. David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown kept fans in their feelings with the emotional bond between Jim Hopper and Eleven throughout the Netflix series. They’ll be back on-screen together soon, as they’re starring in a new show for the streamer, hailing from Adolescence creator Jack Thorne.
The project doesn’t yet have a title, but the two will be taking on a similar dynamic to their Stranger Things roles. Harbour will play a former FBI agent who’s dragged back into the game after his daughter disappears. Brown will portray the daughter, setting the actors up to convey a relationship they’re very familiar with.
And Harbour is excited to be working with his former co-star again. In an interview with Deadline, he noted how much Stranger Things fans “loved Hopper and Eleven,” admitting that he thought it was impossible to “pay off that relationship in the way that people wanted it to pay off.” That’s why he’s thrilled to be working with Brown again, offering fans another glimpse of their on-screen chemistry in a different context:
“And so Millie and I, I think we wanted to bring you something with the chemistry of these two, of me and her, that will surprise you and that will be rich, and have that deep emotion, but also be just wild. So I’m really excited to be back with her. I love working with her.”
Not much is known about the show, but Harbour teased one of the overarching themes: “It has a lot of stuff to say about this modern contemporary world we’re living in as well that I’m really excited to keep doing.”
David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown’s Dynamic Promises a Fun Series for Fans
Spy thrillers are entertaining in their own right, but the existing dynamic between Harbour and Brown — which jumps off the screen in Stranger Things — all but confirms this will be a good one. The circumstances of their characters suggests they’ll be separated at first, but their eventual reunion gives fans of these actors something to look forward to. And Thorne taking the reins and A24 producing makes this even more promising. We’ll certainly be keeping our ears to the ground for more news about its release.
